Sneak Peek!
4 1/2 more days to the wedding! :) I thought I would give you all a little taste of what is to come. Nothing is too revealing I think. Here is just a little of what I, along with the help of others, have been working hard on over the last few months. I can't wait to see how it all comes together!

high of 74 degrees
We have entered into the 10 day forecast! Woohoo. I know 10 days is a huge amount of time in the weather world and this could stay the same or change drastically, but it is still fun to check and see what the weather may be. Right now I would say it looks like a perfect day to get married. :)
I am not really worried about the weather though. We are getting married rain or shine! :) The only bummer with rain would be pictures, but we could figure that out. Steve has access, through work, to this massive weather database. With it he was able to look back at the weather on September 26th through a number of years. I would say, from what he found that historically it looks like we picked a great day.

It has not rained since 2003 and that’s the only year it rained in this decade. In 2004 it was an avg temp of 54 which is the only year it seemed kind of cold and in 1999 it was an average temp of 76, hitting 89, which looks to be the warmest in the past decade. The avg precipitation on Sept 26 is .1 inches and high is 2.26 in 1884.

Head For the Cure
This morning Lauren, Amy Lunn and I ran a 5K, Head for the Cure. It was in an office park in Overland Park called Corporate Woods. The path was a pretty good one. The weather was also great for a run, in the 50's. More exciting than the path or the weather though was the cause. Every race benefits something and while we have ran many races now, I have not yet ran a race that meant anything to me. Head for the Cure raises money to find a cure for brain cancer, something that hits close to home for us. While we were at UMR one of our best friends, Krista, had her dad pass away. So this race we ran for him, Krista and her family.Krista's dad, Jack Wolfe

Lauren and I before the race. We made some sweet hats to wear...mine says JW and hers is the above picture of Jack.
All 3 of us after the race. We also made some awesome shirts that said "Cancer Sucks" They were a big hit.
It also was Amy Lunn's first race and she did great! She is doing the half marathon in October just like Steve and I. :) Lauren did awesome as usual. I am really proud of myself this race. I ran it at a faster pace than I usually do and I finished around 34 mins. I'd say it was a pretty good Sunday morning.

Food!
While trying to check the many, many things off of my wedding to do list, I emailed the caterer this week and confirmed our menu and a few other details. I am so excited for the food. It was delicious when we went for our tasting. I saw this salad at a wedding on the Bride's Cafe and it looks similar to the one we are having. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is!

In Love!
Cornflake Girl and I must have had esp, because yesterday I was just wondering how the cake topper was coming along and when it would be done. Today I get an email from her that it is complete and I should check it out and see what I think. I am so in love!

Candy!!
I love candy! Some people have candy bars at their reception. I thought this was cute...(from the Bride's Cafe)
They put the place cards in trays with candy. A twist on this could be to use dog bones and have baggies for people to take some for their pets, since we are going to be donating to an animal shelter.

Pet Love
Steve and I have decided that instead of giving out favors at the wedding that we would like to do a charitable donation.

Since we love our Chewie so much I think that we are going to do a donation to a local shelter. I had thought about doing a national organization, but I think that it would be nicer to give to something locally. Although the wedding is in St Louis I think we will probably give to an organization where we live. Here are just a few of the local shelters:
Humane Society of Greater Kansas City
Heart of America Humane Society – Overland Park
Wayside Waifs
Animal Haven
I have also thought about instead of doing a monetary donation, buying some items from a few shelters wish lists. Things like food, beds, etc. The benefit to doing a monetary donation though is that my work and I bet Steve’s does too, will do matching.
To go along with our idea of a donation we want to display other peoples loved ones. So each table will be named after a guests pet. The head table will of course be “Chewie”. :)

Play that funky music...
We finally booked a dj! Like almost everything else, we went off of recommendations from friends and family. We are using the same company that Kim and Brian had at their wedding.
Everyone danced the night away for their wedding, so hopefully the same will be true for ours. Bring your dancing shoes, its only 7 months till boogie time. :) Start getting your song requests in now. Sorry I'm vetoing the hokey poky and YMCA.

The Knot
The Knot and I must have had esp. They just blogged about a custom cake topper too.

This one is by goosegrease. They will custom make them to look like you, dress, suit everything. It is also not quite as much money as the other ones, but also not as cute as the birds. :)

Cake Toppers
I love some of the cake toppers you can find on Esty. Especially these bird ones. If only money grew on trees. hehe
This is probably more of the type of cake topper Steve would pick out. It is by buildersstudio and called "robot secret agent". Hehe.
This one by cornflakegirl is my favorite. They custom make them to you specifications...dress type, colors, anything!
This one is by cottonbirddesigns and is also so cute.

I have been researching some bakeries to get our cake from. I got a few recommendations from one of the caterers and some friends. After checking out all of their sites, examples they have posted and their pricing I think we may go with the same bakery Kim and Brian used, Sarah’s CafĂ©. I have been in contact with them and I think we may send in a deposit for them soon and get our date in their books. Next time we are in St Louis we will set up a consultation with them to taste the cake and get a cake planned out. Here are two styles Steve and I like, one is more traditional then the other.

The Big Day
Its 363 days till the wedding!
The ceremony is going to be at the Piper Palm House in Tower Grove Park. I was looking at pictures we took when we visited it and I just love it. I think its the perfect place for us to get married.
The reception is going to be on the fourth floor of Neo, with drinks on the rooftop garden.
We don't have much else planned right now. I'm sure this year is going to go by fast. We better get planning!
