For Chewie

I couldn't decide whether or not I should do a post on this, but I like to think if Chewie could use a computer and read, he would read and love my blog. So I decided to post about him and what has happened to him. Last night Chewie and I went for our normal walk around the block. We were almost home, just about 6 houses away, when a dog attacked my baby boy. :( I will leave out the details, as they are horrifying and traumatic. Chewie was taken to the emergency vet to get checked out and he is doing ok. They said he was very lucky. He only has one bite mark that punctured, the other 15+ marks have only bruised him. He is wearing a cone to prevent him from getting at the staple in his far back and to keep him from licking the wound.
They had to shave half of his fur off, so he is a little chilly at times. He was also upset because he was going to make his modeling debut in a few weeks at our engagement pictures, but I told him it would be alright and we an do them another time.
Chewie has been a very brave dogie through this whole thing. He seems to be bouncing back today better than I am. When he is not wearing his cone he acts pretty normal, once the cone is on though he goes catatonic and hardly moves. I am working from home to keep an eye on him all day and to love on him as much as I can. I know he will make it through this and be an even stronger dogie. It is so hard to have anything happen to someone you love so much. Seeing his cute little face can turn the worst day upside down. I know everyone will wish Chewie well, so I just wanted to say in advance thank you all so much. He appreciates all of the well wishes too. I am telling them all to him. Yes I am a crazy lady that talks to her dog like he can talk back. :)

For Dad

This post is for my dad. I saw this pic of a reception on one of the wedding websites I often look at and thought of him. I can see him now outside the ceremony with a beer. Probably not a PBR, since it is a formal event. Haha
Have a great weekend everyone!

Animal Love

Today is a sad day. Kim and Brian lost a member of their family, Baxter, their beloved cat. Being allergic I never got to spend much time with Baxter, but I know Kim and Brian loved him dearly. Kim wrote a very nice blog post about him, you can find it here. At Kim's request I am going home and hugging Chewie. I suggest everyone go home tonight and hug their special family member, whether it be a dog, cat, fish or plant. Animals are so great. They have this wonderful ability to love and care for you unconditionally. They can always put a smile on your face no matter the mood you are in. Everyone should know the love a pet can give. We will all miss you Baxter!

In Love!

Cornflake Girl and I must have had esp, because yesterday I was just wondering how the cake topper was coming along and when it would be done. Today I get an email from her that it is complete and I should check it out and see what I think. I am so in love!

Special thanks to my wonderful Aunt Nancy for this awesome gift! Isn't it cute?

Invitations!

Friday, while mom and Ellen were here, we went and looked at invitations at Statements. They had a ton of books to look through. We marked probably 8 invitations we liked then went back through them and narrowed them down to our favorites of those. Here are some of the finalists:

We took Steve back to the store on Saturday to get his opinion on the ones we picked out. I'm not going to tell you which ones we decided on, but we picked one and placed our order! You will find out which one when you get them in the mail. :) I should be getting a proof of them in about a week. Once that is finalized they will be printed, shipped to the store, and eventually in your mailbox. :)

Bridesmaids!

While mom and Ellen were in town this weekend we got a lot accomplished for the wedding! Including a lot of bridesmaid planning. We found cute shoes for everyone to wear at DSW. They come in bronze and silver. I think it would be really cute to have 2 of each. Ellen picked up a silver pair and they had a bronze pair in Jessica's size so I got them for her. Now the challenge begins...finding two size 11 pairs. Who knew I had 2 bridesmaids with amazon feet(hehe just kidding ladies). So if anyone is at a DSW and sees the following shoes in a size 11 pick them up!
Chinese Laundry, Taurus in sliver or bronze. :)

We also ordered gifts for the bridesmaids :) I love them so much I got one for myself too. hehe I can't wait for September to give the gifts to everyone and see them in their pretty dresses with their cute shoes!

Brew to Brew

Sunday April 5th we ran in the Brew to Brew. It is a 44 mile relay race from The Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City, MO to Freestate Brewery in Lawrence, KS. Proceeds from the brew to brew benefited The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. There are 10 legs to the 44 mile race.
It was a great day for a run! Not really, see below for the forecast for the day..
It was cold, rainy and snowy! We managed to have a great time despite the bad weather. Our team was supposed to be 9 people, but we ended up only having 6 race day. It ended up working out really well. 4 team members ran 2 legs and 2 of us ran 1 leg(I only ran one, but it was the one with the worst weather!)Our Team (The Wizards of Koz)! From left to right: Joe, Me, Lauren, Steve, Emily and Drew.

At the end of the race there is a party at Liberty Hall in Lawrence with chicken and crayfish gumbo, bread, fruit, and beer. The food was good and I am sure the beer is too, but after such a long day of cold weather and running it was hard to drink.
Here are just a few pics from the race:

I can't wait to do it again next year. Hopefully the weather will be nicer!

Wedding Band!

Steve bought his wedding band this weekend! He really liked the style of Tom’s. It is round to fit your finger, but square-ish on the outside to fit well with the rest of your fingers. So when we were in St Louis this weekend he visited Robert Beins Jeweler (where Tom purchased his ring). It turns out that they are going out of business. They had a ring just like Steve was looking for. Since they were going out of business he didn’t have much time to mull over if he should buy it or not. So he did! Its white gold with a little bit of yellow gold. I like it a lot and so does he. It’s really cute how he keeps trying it on to make sure it still fits. I keep telling him he can’t wear it till September 26th, 2:30ish. :)

Candy!!

I love candy! Some people have candy bars at their reception. I thought this was cute...(from the Bride's Cafe)

They put the place cards in trays with candy. A twist on this could be to use dog bones and have baggies for people to take some for their pets, since we are going to be donating to an animal shelter.

BM's Shoes

I saw this pic on Snippet & Ink of these bridesmaids that are wearing dresses very similar in color to my bridesmaids dresses. I had figured the girls could all get different black shoes, but these ones have on all different colors(white, silver, gold, bronze) and it looks cute. I don't think any of my ladies will be wearing shoes as high as some of these girls have on though! Just a thought. I better figure it out soon though so they can start looking for shoes. :)
