Valentines Weekend

This year for Valentines Day/Weekend Steve planned a dance lesson for us. We had such a good time. It was a private lesson in ballroom dancing. We learned the basic steps of the waltz, the rumba and the hustle. It was so much fun to do something different and so nice of him to plan it.
After dancing we decided to drive by this pizza place that Steve always tells me I would love, he had eaten there and I had not. Every time we would try to go the place would be closed. They have really random hours, also it is in this very small house. So we drove by and it was actually open!
The pizza was delish, as was the beer we had with it. It was a perfect night.
We continued the celebration the next night with beers at the Saucer (of course) and a fancy dinner at Cafe Trio.
It was a great weekend with my husband trying a new things and getting to check some things off our Kansas City to-do list.

Chicago

We went to Chicago at the end of September to celebrate our first anniversary. It was such a great time. We had a blast seeing the city. It was also very relaxing, something we had been needing!

We went to the aquarium. It really is one of the better aquariums I've ever seen, not that I have seen a ton. :)

We rented bikes from a stand outside the aquarium. We saw a ton of the city on the bikes, Navy Pier, Millennium Park and the River Walk. It really is a great way to see a city.

At Millennium Park, in front of The Bean.

We also had to hit up some Chicago style pizza. It was delicious, but it has nothing on St Louis style.

We also went to a Cubs vs Cardinals game at Wrigley Field. Too bad the Cards lost. We still had a ton of fun though. Thanks mom and dad for the tickets!

I also kicked butt in pin-ball. I got my name on the score board in the top 40! haha It was pure luck and a lot of beer I think.
I know we wont be able to celebrate every year of marriage this way but it was a great way to spend the first one for sure. Any trip with my best friend is a good trip though, no matter the occasion. :) Click here if you want to see more pictures from our trip.

Anniversary

Last weekend was Steve and my's 6 year anniversary. It was the last one we will ever celebrate for dating each other. Next year we will have to start all over, back at one and just 13 days later than we would normally celebrate. :) We are so busy with wedding stuff that it was nice to take a Sunday and celebrate. Steve scheduled us a nice dinner at one of the nicest restaurants in Kansas City. The restaurant is on the Plaza, so we went down early to shop a little and just walk around. The weather was great. There was even a jazz band playing outside some of the shops that we sat and listened to for a while. Before we had dinner we sat on the patio at Baja 600

Steve and I having margaritas and mojitos on the patio at Baja 600.
Dinner was one of the best we have had. We ate at The Capital Grille. Steve had told them it was our anniversary so when we got there we had "Happy Anniversary" and heart confetti sprinkled on the table. hehe

All of the food was amazing! Below is lobster mac and cheese. Yummm!
My steak, already halfway eaten, was delicious! It was also huge...it took up that whole plate!
We also got a to die for flour less chocolate cake for desert, on the house for our anniversary. And they took our picture and put it in a nice card/frame to commemorate the night.

It was a lovely way to spend our last anniversary together. And I am so glad we got to try out The Capital Grille. Thanks to Steve for planning it all. :)

For Chewie

I couldn't decide whether or not I should do a post on this, but I like to think if Chewie could use a computer and read, he would read and love my blog. So I decided to post about him and what has happened to him. Last night Chewie and I went for our normal walk around the block. We were almost home, just about 6 houses away, when a dog attacked my baby boy. :( I will leave out the details, as they are horrifying and traumatic. Chewie was taken to the emergency vet to get checked out and he is doing ok. They said he was very lucky. He only has one bite mark that punctured, the other 15+ marks have only bruised him. He is wearing a cone to prevent him from getting at the staple in his far back and to keep him from licking the wound.
They had to shave half of his fur off, so he is a little chilly at times. He was also upset because he was going to make his modeling debut in a few weeks at our engagement pictures, but I told him it would be alright and we an do them another time.
Chewie has been a very brave dogie through this whole thing. He seems to be bouncing back today better than I am. When he is not wearing his cone he acts pretty normal, once the cone is on though he goes catatonic and hardly moves. I am working from home to keep an eye on him all day and to love on him as much as I can. I know he will make it through this and be an even stronger dogie. It is so hard to have anything happen to someone you love so much. Seeing his cute little face can turn the worst day upside down. I know everyone will wish Chewie well, so I just wanted to say in advance thank you all so much. He appreciates all of the well wishes too. I am telling them all to him. Yes I am a crazy lady that talks to her dog like he can talk back. :)

Animal Love

Today is a sad day. Kim and Brian lost a member of their family, Baxter, their beloved cat. Being allergic I never got to spend much time with Baxter, but I know Kim and Brian loved him dearly. Kim wrote a very nice blog post about him, you can find it here. At Kim's request I am going home and hugging Chewie. I suggest everyone go home tonight and hug their special family member, whether it be a dog, cat, fish or plant. Animals are so great. They have this wonderful ability to love and care for you unconditionally. They can always put a smile on your face no matter the mood you are in. Everyone should know the love a pet can give. We will all miss you Baxter!

In Love!

Cornflake Girl and I must have had esp, because yesterday I was just wondering how the cake topper was coming along and when it would be done. Today I get an email from her that it is complete and I should check it out and see what I think. I am so in love!

Special thanks to my wonderful Aunt Nancy for this awesome gift! Isn't it cute?

Kissing Tree

I just came across this new site, Kiss the Groom. It looks like it is going to be a really cute new site. On it is this sweet thing called the Kissing Tree. You can do it as many times as you like. Below is my Kissing Tree with Sarah Loves Stephen "carved" into it. Enjoy.

Valentine's Day

We had a wonderful valentine's day yesterday. We don't get too into the whole holiday, like get each other gifts and things but we did go out to a nice dinner last night. But I will get to that in a moment. During the day we went out to the Legends to do some shopping and both Steve and I discovered that we have gone down a pants size! All of the working out and eating well is paying off. I actually had to ask the fitting room girl if the work pants I was trying on looked alright, cause I am not used to pants fitting well anymore. haha. I am excited to get to wear them tomorrow. I did not have any luck finding new tops, but I guess I can't buy everything at once. hehe.

So for dinner last night we decided to try a new place, City Tavern. It was in the historic Freight Building downtown. And it was one of the best dinning out experiences I have ever had and we eat out a lot. The food was excellent and the service was even better. They had a few mess-ups with our dinning, nothing big at all and neither Steve or I was concerned with it and they made up for it big time. We got free oysters and 2 free beers. I could go on and on about how great it was but I will spare you from having to read about it any more. :)

Oh also, Steve tried on and wore a suit he has been dying to get into for years now. It is a vintage suit he picked up when we went to San Fransisco in 2005. I am so proud of him for fitting into it. He looked super handsome. :)
