Week 18

Where: The Ballard, Unit 504, Super Bowl Sunday - Go Chiefs! :)

Week Recap ~
  • Total weight gain/loss : +7 lbs (no change)
  • Sleep : Better, still waking up a few times a night to go to the bathroom
  • Best moments : Taking 2 vacation days and spending them with my friends. I think I will just do a separate recap post on how awesome it was. :)
  • Movement : None still. I wish it would come soon!
  • Symptoms : I have had some pains in my side. I am pretty sure it is just my round ligament. It is infrequent, so I am not concerned. We go to the doctor this week, so I will double check there.
  • Maternity clothes? : I'd say I am wearing them 90% of the time, not that I fit into them all that great yet.
  • Food cravings or aversion's? : I have mostly been wanting Mexican still or fish and chips. I never turn down either of those.
  • What I am eating : I am a few days behind in this post and after spending the last part of week 18 on vacation I really cannot remember what I had. I do think I did fairly well on vacation. We had a ton of food out all of the time and I snacked a lot but I had a ton of fruit and veggies(with dip) most of the time.
  • Exercise : I finally did my yoga dvd! It is a little slow for me and I can still do a lot of the poses without the modifications they are doing, but I am still going to try to do it a few times a week.
  • Gender : ? getting closer to finding out!
  • Labor signs : None
  • What I miss : Being close to the people I love. This includes family, but after an amazing weekend with friends I hate being so far from all of them. A good number of my close friends live in St Louis now and I wish I was around to visit with them more. Do not read the above and interpret this as I want to move back though. :) If asked, I can say with certainty that I do not want to move.
  • What I am looking forward to : Doctor's appointment this week, we love getting to hear the heartbeat and this weekend we are taking a cloth diapering class. I know quite a lot, but when I talk to Stephen about it it is like I am talking a foreign language. So I thought it would be a good idea for us to go where someone else can explain it to him. It will be our first baby class.

First Trimester in Review

Well we made it through our first trimester! I think overall I had it pretty easy, it was probably harder on Steve than it was on me. I had minimal morning sickness, my main "symptom" was fatigure. I would come home from work, take the dogs out, then lay on the couch and never leave until it was time to move to the bed. The weekends were not much different. I could go out for a few hours of activity then I needed to go home and nap. While I have not had many food adversions (a few seafood items I suddenly think taste fishy and buffalo wings no longer agree with me) I mainly do not think any food sounds good, ever. It is not that food makes me sick, I just never want anything. Big adjustment in our house, where I always want something very specific 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time I like Steve to choose but I shoot down most of his choices. :) All of this left Steve to take care of the house, the dogs, meals and whatever else I asked for (which can be a lot). He has been really great all 13 weeks and I have no doubt he will continue to be amazing and supportive.

During the few hours on the weekends I was up for going on an outing Steve and I have been going around the city taking bump pictures. Yeah there isn't much there right now, but it has been a really fun activity for us and we plan to continue throughout the whole 9 months. You might eventually see some places pop up more than once, as we have taken a few at favorite spots early.

Stay tuned to see where we go each week and how we are all doing.

The Move is On!

The move to Seattle is now officially on! Two men came over on Wednesday and packed up the stuff in the house that I had not yet packed. And then the house was officially filled with boxes everywhere!

Thursday two different men came and loaded up the boxes and all the furniture into a truck. Don't worry our house did not take up this whole truck. It was maybe about a third of the truck. This took a large part of the day, but when it was done our house was empty. It was sad, but also a good feeling knowing that this is finally happening.

Whats next? Well it has already started...my good friend Sarah L, Chewie, Yuri and I are off on a 5 day road trip across the country. Be on the look out for updates along the way!

Saucer Party

Before Steve left for Seattle we had our party at the Flying Saucer commemorating our accomplishment of drinking 200 different beers each. It also doubled as a goodbye party for Steve.

Tina and I attempted to create some Star Wars cookies for the party. They were tasty.

Our plates! #223 & 224 on the wall of honor.

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. It was a great time!

Moving on Up....Northwest

Life has been crazy lately. I am way behind on updating. The biggest thing going on right now is Steve and I are moving to Seattle, WA! Steve took a job with a new company and it will require us to head to the northwest. We are excited, nervous, overwhelmed and mostly stressed, but we know in the long run all the emotions will be worth us taking on this great adventure. Steve really puts everything into words better than I do so you should click here and find out more about our move. :) In case you are unsure about how far we are moving (1,800+ miles) or where Seattle is here is a picture of our journey.

Life Goals

Steve and I have almost completed one of our lifetime goals....to drink 200 different beers at the Flying Saucer. We are at 194. Today I received a message from a saucer friend that Steve and I were on the website. Here we are on the list of who is up next to be immortalized in the Ring of Honor. Stay tuned for a post about when we finish!

28th BDay

A few weeks ago (February 25) I turned 28! I love my birthday, just absolutely love it. A couple girls from work also had birthdays the same month so we all decided to go out together that Friday. They turned 23 and 24, and their party abilities are way above ours are any more. We realized this the next day of course. haha.

So we went to a local Olathe bar, then afterwards hit Funkytown. There really are not words to describe this place, other than AWESOME. haha. It is a crazy place. I would love to hit it up with my girl friends. I know it would just be a blast with all of them.
Saturday, after spending a lot of the day recovering from Funkytown, Steve took me out to a few places in Kansas City I had been wanting to try out.

First up was lunch at Dog Nuvo, a gourmet hot dog place. While the hot dogs were good, they still did not compare to the hot dogs grandma used to make me...with bacon, cheese, mustard and the hot dog fried in the bacon grease of course!

We also went to Christopher Elbow for some fancy chocolates.

Aren't they pretty and fancy!?
Afterwards we hit up the Flying Saucer of course. It was a nice day. Steve always knows how to treat me to a good day. :)

Valentines Weekend

This year for Valentines Day/Weekend Steve planned a dance lesson for us. We had such a good time. It was a private lesson in ballroom dancing. We learned the basic steps of the waltz, the rumba and the hustle. It was so much fun to do something different and so nice of him to plan it.
After dancing we decided to drive by this pizza place that Steve always tells me I would love, he had eaten there and I had not. Every time we would try to go the place would be closed. They have really random hours, also it is in this very small house. So we drove by and it was actually open!
The pizza was delish, as was the beer we had with it. It was a perfect night.
We continued the celebration the next night with beers at the Saucer (of course) and a fancy dinner at Cafe Trio.
It was a great weekend with my husband trying a new things and getting to check some things off our Kansas City to-do list.

Restaurant Week!

This Friday starts Kansas City's first ever Restaurant Week. I am very excited about this. One of the many things Steve and I love to do is go out to eat and try out new restaurants. There are over 90 restaurants participating in this event. We have chosen to go out to 3. One is a favorite of ours, Bristol. We are going to lunch there this Saturday. We figured it was probably among some of the best bang for your buck places for lunch. Places serving lunch will be having a $15 pre-fix menu and dinners will be $30. Next week we are trying out two places we have never been to for dinner...801 Chop House and Micheal Smith. We just recently noticed 801 Chop House and picked it due to being able to get a $30 meal at a restaurant that is noted with 4 dollar signs $$$$. Micheal Smith I had read about a long time ago and have been wanting to eat there for a while, just never got around to it. Oh the other great thing about this week is that some proceeds are going to Harvesters, a local food bank. I am excited to get in some great food in the next week. I've been trying to figure out a way to get to more places, but I think I should calm down and realize that 3 is a lot. hehe
