Kim & Brian in KC

Last weekend Kim and Brian came to Kansas to visit. We had a great time hanging out with them and taking them to a lot of our favorite places.

Kim and Brian at the Flying Saucer.
We love the Flying Saucer.

The four of us, plus Tom, went to the Boulevard Brewery tour. I didn't get any pictures of us there though, so this one of part of the Boulevard smokestack will have to do.

Then we went to Ponak's, a mexican restaurant. Steve and I had been wanting to try it out for a while now. It was really good. Ponak's was also the first place to have Boulevard on tap.

After lunch it was off to the baseball game, Royals vs Cardinals. It was HOT out, but we had a good time.
We decided to sport both teams, Cards shirts and Royals hats.

Best Friends

The pups LOVE walks. You can't even mention the word "walk" anywhere near Chewie or he will freak out. The problem is with two dogs either both Steve and I have to take them together or you have to walk one dog, come home and then walk the other dog. When you do this the one left at home spends the whole time freaking out. So I bought a leash splitter. A leash splitter allows you to walk two dogs from only one leash. Last weekend I decided to try it out. While it didn't go horribly we didn't walk much farther than down the street and back. I think after an adjustment to make it a little longer and some practice they will get the hang of it. Hopefully resulting in more walks.

They look so cute walking side by side.

Out With the Old

I've been feeling like it is time for a change to the good old blog. I set this blog up back in September 2008 to keep together thoughts and ideas for the wedding, as well as keep family/friends up to date on wedding happenings. Since then we have gotten married and I have continued to blog, although not as frequently, to hopefully still keep family/friends in the loop about all the exciting and I'm sure some not so exciting things we are doing. It is also nice for me to look back and have a quick view at all the wonderful things that Steve, the dogs and I have done over the last few years. When I set up the blog I went with our wedding colors, green and purple. I'm sick of looking at green and purple! I have some ideas in mind for changes. So be on the look out for a new look...hopefully soon! I have been working very hard this week on creating some things that I think look awesome for the blog and hopefully you all do to!

Jumping on the Bandwagon

Steve has been wearing and running in shoes called Vibram Five Fingers for quite a while now. Wearing them is like being barefoot. He started wearing them after having some pains from running. His pain has gone away and only comes back when he runs in shoes. He swears by them and if you want to know a lot more about them I would direct you to talk to him. He can talk your ears off about it. :)
A few weeks ago I got a pair of my own! I was supposed to read Born to Run before we would talk about getting me a pair, but then this happened....

I rolled my ankle while working out at the gym. Steve felt I should get a pair, as it would strengthen many of my muscles, including ones I don't probably use that much. So one day while out to lunch together we stopped by the only store in town that carries them. I tried one on (I was lucky they had my size, they are super popular) and they fit perfectly. So we got them! I couldn't wear them though for the last two weeks due to my right ankle being HUGE.

Here is is the night it happened with Yuri making sure I kept it elevated. This isn't even close to how big it got. You couldn't tell where my calf ended and my ankle began. I wish I would have taken some pictures of it a few days later.

But my ankle is almost normal size now and I can get my shoes on! This is my second time wearing them(they are on now as I type this). The first time took me over 5 minuets. I didn't time myself this wear, but I know it was faster than before. I haven't ran in them yet, just worn them around the house and took the dogs for a walk in them. They feel pretty neat.

Doppelgänger

Doppelganger: a ghostly double of a living person, any double or look-alike of a person. The word is also used to describe the sensation of having glimpsed oneself in peripheral vision, in a position where there is no chance that it could have been a reflection.

One of my favorite shows How I Met Your Mother has dedicated several episodes to seeing/finding the doppelgangers of each of the members of the cast. They have found 4 out 5 characters. There has been Stripper Lilly, Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestler) Ted, Mustache Marshall and Lesbian Robin. Within my own group of close friends, I have seen 2 doppelgangers within the last month! At the beach we saw White Trash Lesbian Bethany. It is too bad that we were in the ocean when she appeared, so no one was able to snap a photo of her. The other one came just a few weeks later and I was able to snap a photo. Here is doppelganger Steve, in the beer line at the Black Keys concert.

Not sure what kind of Steve he is though. He looks pretty spot on to the original Steve. Any ideas on what we should call him?

Stay tuned for hopefully more posts/updates on found doppelgangers. :)

Congrats Nickie & Matt Smith!

Last weekend we went to St Louis for a party filled weekend. We had a wedding to go to and a graduation party. The wedding was my friend Nickie. She didn't actually go to Rolla, but to us she is just another Rolla girl. :)
The beautiful bride and her new hubby walking down the aisle.

Kara was a bridesmaid. She looked pretty as well.

And she made the cake! Doesn't it look awesome? It tasted good too! I am so impressed with her skills.

Krista came in for the wedding. We really liked hanging out on this patio at the reception. It was a really nice view.

In between the ceremony and reception we spent time at the Kozlen house for Jessica's graduation party. Lots of family came to town for the get together. It was really nice to get to visit with everyone. Plus Krista and Chung came along, so we got to hang out all day too. Even with lots of family at the party, the only pics I got there were of Leah. Hehe.

She loved the dogs. She kept trying to pet Yuri. They find her interesting too. It's cute.

Leah and I hanging out. Doesn't she look cute in that dress? Her Aunt Sarah got it for her :)

Overall it was a very busy weekend, but a great one!

Garden - Version 2010

I have been meaning to post some pics of my garden for a while now. So here you go!
Two types of lettuce, 3 types of tomatoes, 2 peppers, 2 jalapenos, zucchini and eggplant.

More veggies growing on the deck! Onions, cucumber and cilantro(r.i.p. - didn't make it through our weekend gone to TX)

First bloom on the zucchini plant!
I will have to take some more pictures soon and post them. Everything has started to take off. Hopefully I will see some veggies soon. Steve and I can't wait to have meals made from our own home grown vegetables.

Memorial Weekend

We just got back from a long weekend getaway to Seaside, TX. Four days of lounging in the sun and hanging with friends was very refreshing. We had a house right on the beach and all the food and beer we could eat/drink. A big thanks to Sarah L for organizing the whole thing, from getting the house to planning out all the meals and everything! It was awesome.

All the girls! I don't have a picture of the guys or really too many of them at all but Steve was there as well as Tony, Scott and Chung.

On the beach! (this was the best one and Steve had cut our bodies out of the pic!)

They found a shark on their walk!

I miss the beach already and my friends!
